Notes from 16 April CA-WN Public Meeting and a 'field trip'.

Our April guest speaker was Dr Colleen Golja, Imperial College Research Fellow at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and Environment, Imperial College London.

Dr Golja gave an overview of the climate as a dynamical system and how this impacts the UK under past and present climate change. You don't need to be a climate scientist to recognise the severe threat presented by climate change, but there's also a lot of noise and poor information around this topic.

CA-WN was privileged to hear the facts from a climate scientist at the forefront of atmospheric research. The recording of the meeting is available to watch on YouTube and Dr Golja's talk will be summarised in CA-WN Exchange. You can also see her slides here.

Apologies: Clare Slater, Helen Dyson, Leonie Beale, Peter Nalder, Roy Hawkesford

Present: Allan Bell, Anissa Beale, Dave Pearson, David Garlick, Harry Mellor, James Hadfield, Jane Wood, Jenny Scully, Maria Lee, Martin Coombes, Mick Lorkins, Mike Longman, Rupert Knowles,

Date of next meeting: 21 May - Stuart Dawks, CEO of PECT, a charity set up (originally as Peterborough Environment City Trust) to protect and enhance the environment. Stuart will talk about 'Delivering Change Locally: 30+ Years of PECT’s Climate and Environmental Work'.

Upcoming event - book now!

Every so often CA-WN is able to arrange a special event to see sustainable practices in action - a field trip if you like. Our next one, coming up on Wednesday 13 May, is a field trip in every sense! We have been offered an opportunity to see how food production and nature can work together within a regenerative farming system at the Courteenhall Estate.
