Trees for Welford

CA-WN recently received this email from Hilary Hunt of Trees for Welford (TfW), and it's such a great good news story we wanted to share it.
I am pleased to say that we have completed our Feasibility Study project and finalised our Report on the challenge of setting up a sustainable community project to plant trees in the parish in the context of climate change. Here are two links to it:

I must tell you that, although it wasn’t obvious at the time, CA-WN has played a crucial part in the development of our project, and our involvement with the development of a focus on trees in WNC’s policy. It all started way back when you publicised a meeting in Northampton with Save our Street Trees. My TfW colleagues attended, met Russell Horsey, and the rest, as they say, is history. His involvement with WNC meant he was in the area. Our Lottery Fund funding meant that we could pay for his expert services as an important part of our project.
Russell was engaged by WNC to steer the development of their Tree Strategy, through periods with and without a WNC Tree Officer. TfW has been able to contribute substantively through the Strategy consultations, thanks to our ongoing cooperation with him and Sarah Shorley. The Tree Strategy launch was scheduled for November 2024 and we are pleased that it finally happened last week. Our hope is that having the strategy finally in place will help us move forward with plans for planting trees in public spaces in Welford. All thanks to your publicising that meeting.
