The 89 Percent Project
According to recent science as many as 89% of the world’s people want governments to take stronger action on climate, a fact not reflected in the media, which might explain why the 89% don’t know that they are the global majority.
The 89 Percent Project, launched in April 2025 with CCNow Joint Coverage Week1, is a year-long global journalistic effort to explore this little-known fact about climate change.
As CCNow say, that 89% figure puts a lie to the one-dimensional caricature of people who care about climate change as left-wing or fringe. The sheer size of the climate majority means that it includes almost everyone across political, economic, generational, racial, and other lines.
When confronted by bigotry and ignorance in our streets and local government never forget that these parrots, albeit loud-mouthed, are a minority being led by fossil fuelled squillionaires intent only on feathering their own nests.
