Muck spreading season

The ground is being prepared for what is to come, on our fields and in our Council Chambers, and in all our lives.
Here’s what was sprayed in a discussion on abandoning the Council’s Net Zero pledges:
Extremists
Communists
Anti-capitalists
Lunatics
Brown rice and sandals brigade
Those who plait their armpit hair1
Othering
If we are none of the above, then we are different from them. This is othering, deliberately drawing a distinction between us and them.
Othering reveals more about those that other than those that are othered.
Presenting our race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or social class as superior to theirs is the authoritarian’s tactic.
Othering starts with scapegoating, blaming others for something that’s not their fault, progresses through gaslighting, deliberately manipulating people's perception of reality, and ends up with thuggery in our streets. It’s the fascist’s favourite manoeuvre and it’s back in fashion.
There's only one cult that would call out communists, anti-capitalists, lunatics, the brown rice and sandals brigade or those who plait their armpit hair. And CA-WN isn't afraid to call out that cult.
Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.
