Now Here
This is a bit of a departure from our usual fare, in that this podcast doesn’t have a climate or environmental theme, although some episodes do – one about citizen scientists testing water quality on the River Wye, for example. It’s described as “Stories of people coming together to fight neighbourhood decline and neglect”. The stories it tells are of communities fighting for what they believe in, to buy their Scottish island from the millionaire landowner, or bring derelict buildings in Liverpool into community use. These are revolutions driven by hard work, organisation and intelligent use of the law.
Strong communities willing to act to protect what they care about is one of the things we need a lot more of to help get us out of the huge climate change hole we have dug. This series gives hope that this might be possible.
