National Emergency Briefing
On Wednesday 27th November at 9am in Westminster Central Hall, the UK's first National Emergency Briefing by 9 of the UK's leading experts will share the latest evidence and cascading risks across all dimensions of the climate and nature crisis at a closed-door, invitation-only session.
I have sadly not been invited, but I have emailed my MP, Stuart Andrew, Member for Daventry, to urge him to attend if he possibly can, as he is my representative in Government. I want to ensure that he is fully briefed on the latest expert knowledge of the crisis and what can be done about it, and equipped to make the right decisions.
The topics that the experts will be covering include: national security, the economy, food security and health; what is at stake; and the science-based pathways forward. And the experts are incredible leaders in their fields; Mike Berners-Lee, Lt. General Richard Nugee, Professor Nathalie Seddon, Professor Paul Behrens, Professor Hayley Fowler, Angela Francis, Professor Kevin Anderson, Professor Tim Lenton and Professor Hugh Montgomery. Wow! What a roster of brilliant people. If I had received an invitation to this event, I would cancel everything in my diary to attend.
If you are with me on this, you can use this to use this postcode checker to see if your MP is attending and email them if not to urge them to attend. The National Emergency Briefing team have provided this simple email content for you to use as a starting point.
